Took me 55 minutes to go 17 miles. No I don’t live in Southern California and I am not used to it... I know I am spoiled but today I am like this.

Kinja'd!!!

Oppo will cheer me up though...

I got stuck in school traffic because I left the house too early trying to get my car washed before work...I can relate, but my traffic was not 55 minutes for 17 miles bad.

yeah that is not good. It was just frustrating because I left for work early to get a jump start but i ended up being late and playing catch up.

Earlier this year, the freeway flooded between Beaufort and Savannah. My girlfriend and I sat in traffic for 5 hours during a normally 45 minute drive. At the worst of it, we averaged 0.5mph for an hour and a half. That’s 1.5 hours to go less than a mile.

Bad traffic hardly bothers me after that ordeal.

That was me the other morning. My morning commute doesn’t usually get too bad but that one morning I hit an absolute stand-still and my usual 15-20 minute drive turned in to 45. It turned out that a big Lexus SUV had broken down right at the end of the bridge and was blocking one of the two lanes. If it had gone about 20 yards further there would have been room for it to get off the road.

Today was similar to me. There were cops and stalled cars that made the freeway a mess. Then add in construction that made surface streets an equal mess.

The construction hits me on my afternoon commute. There is one street that is absolutely torn up. It’s mostly one big hole, but they’ve made one lane that snakes it way through and turned all of the lights off and made them 4-way stops. You would think that people would find alternate routes. I know I did. What they actually do is act shocked when they are caught in the middle of an intersection with a main arterial because the traffic on that road is backed up. They sit there in the middle of the intersection, blocking traffic, because they are either too stupid or too lazy to go another fucking way, or at least stop until they are sure they can get across the intersection. Fucking morons.

Wait, the end of a bridge is usually sloped down... they couldn’t coast off? Or be pushed?

Nope, my city sits in a valley with the river being a low point so it actually slopes down to the bridge. This particular road not only slopes up at the end of the bridge but also curves fairly sharply.

Whoa, I figured something like that but was curious. Yeah, that’s pretty bad. You’d need like four guys plus one to steer to push an SUV out of that.
